Taylor Swift launch Oklahoma City concert: Contemporary country music star Taylor Swift will return to Oklahoma City for a concert in October. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, who is in the final week of the European leg of her blockbuster “Speak Now World Tour 2011,” announced Thursday that because of strong fan demand she will extend the North American portion of her tour by 16 dates, including an Oct. 15 show at the Oklahoma City Arena.

Tickets for the added North American shows will go on sale in the coming weeks, according to the tour announcement. Fans can go to the okcarena, along with NewsOK.com, for updates on ticket prices and the sale date.
Swift sold out in Oklahoma City last March with her “Fearless 2010 Tour.”With the added shows, she will headline 78 shows in 63 cities this year in 42 states and provinces in the United States and Canada.
As usual for Swift’s tours, tickets for concerts were gone in minutes, including shows in Detroit, Philadelphia, Foxboro, Mass., and four-night runs in Newark, N.J., and Los Angeles. The tour launched Feb. 9 in Singapore and kicks off stateside May 27 with two sold-out shows at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb., and will wrap with two shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden just before Thanksgiving.
Australian Adam Brand will warm up crowds on the new September and November dates. Singer David Nail will open the Oklahoma City concert and other October shows. Swift’s career sales now exceed 19 million albums and 33 million song downloads, making her the top-selling digital artist in history, Billboard shows.
