Real Housewives recedes a bit in ratings, Taylor Swift, Pink are hot on Atlanta radioLast week really proved that it’s August when a meaningless pre-season football game was the most viewed program of the week in Atlanta.

The Falcons beating the Rams drew 265,000 viewers this past Friday night. That was 14,000 more than the No. 2 program, TNT’s “The Closer.” (left)

Third? A repeat of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” on WSB-TV. Hard to interpret that one except to say there’s a reason that show’s been on for two decades.

In the meantime, Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” dropped from 6 to 20 and lost nearly a quarter of its Atlanta audience from the previous week, drawing 157,000 viewers locally. There was no catfighting this particular hour and the show competed for the first time against Lifetime’s “Project Runway” (which opened a very strong 4.2 million overall.) Nationally, “Housewives” dropped off less, to 2.8 million from a peak of 3.3 million.

BET’s Atlanta-based “Tiny & Toya” last week hit its season low with 1.46 million viewers. That’s not a good sign if the pair want a renewal.

Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva,” which just wrapped season one in Peachtree City and got the green light for a second season, continued to pull in consistent ratings. This past Sunday, it drew 2.9 million and is averaging 2.73 million after six episodes.

HGTV’s “Design Star,” which features Atlantan Vern Yip as a judge, hit a season high of 3.1 million viewers. The show is doing better than it did last season, when the comparable sixth episode drew 2.8 million.

And folks are apparently tiring quickly of “Jon & Kate.” The show hit a season low of 3 million viewers August 17. But there’s an intriguing new show about obsessive hoarders on A&E called “Hoarders,” which opened at a promising 2.5 million that night.

TNT has renewed “Hawthorne,” which closed out its season with 3.5 million viewers. The show averaged 3.4 million over 10 weeks.
